Static Website Rescue or Migration

Keep what is valuable. Leave the platform baggage behind.

For a small business with an ageing, slow, hard-to-manage, or platform-bound website. Josh works out what is worth preserving, then rebuilds the agreed site as fast, portable static pages.

Why migration is a rebuild

A useful migration protects the business, not the old template.

Squarespace and Wix keep the working website inside proprietary systems. WordPress content can be exported, but its theme, plugins, database, and configuration still need to be recreated somewhere else. A migration therefore is not a promise to copy the old website perfectly.

The current service rebuilds agreed content, URLs, search foundations, and business functions on a static foundation. The source becomes portable and the live site no longer needs a public CMS or database just to serve ordinary pages.

Josh has historical Squarespace work in the portfolio. Those projects accurately show the work done at the time; they were not built with today’s static stack.

The offer

What you are buying.

This offer is for an established business whose existing website contains useful content, rankings, links, or brand value, but whose current platform or implementation is now getting in the way.

Included in the quoted scope

  • A review of the current website, platform, content, URLs, and search foundations
  • A migration plan that identifies what should be kept, improved, redirected, or retired
  • A fast static rebuild of the agreed website scope
  • Preservation of useful content and important URLs wherever practical
  • Redirects for agreed changed URLs to protect visitors and existing search value
  • Mobile-responsive design, performance work, schema markup, metadata, sitemap, and robots.txt
  • Portable source files and free or near-free static hosting setup
  • Launch checks and Google Search Console setup

Not automatically included

These can be discussed and quoted where appropriate; they are not assumed to be part of every project.

  • A one-click copy of a proprietary Squarespace, Wix, or WordPress theme
  • Cancellation of an old platform account before the replacement is checked and live
  • New photography, video, brand identity, or a full copywriting engagement unless quoted
  • Complex ecommerce, membership systems, or custom business software unless quoted
  • Paid advertising, ongoing search campaigns, and ongoing support after launch unless agreed
  • Third-party subscriptions, licences, transaction fees, or domain renewal costs

An indicative process

01

Review

Josh looks at the current site, platform, content, URLs, search footprint, and the business problem behind the migration.

02

Plan and quote

You receive a recommended rescue or rebuild scope, including what moves, what changes, and what stays outside the project.

03

Rebuild and check

The agreed site is rebuilt as a fast static website, with redirects and discovery foundations checked before launch.

04

Launch and handover

The replacement goes live after approval. The old platform is only retired when its content, domains, and dependencies are accounted for.

Starting investment

The review determines the right scope. If the work becomes a full website rebuild, a typical build starts around A$3,000–A$4,000.

The final scope and investment are confirmed in a written quote before any deposit is requested.

Project start

Start with the website you have.

Send Josh the current website address and explain what is slow, difficult, outdated, or no longer working. He will review the situation before recommending a rescue, a migration, or a smaller fix.

Once the written quote and scope are accepted, a 50% deposit starts the project. The quote and invoice set out the remaining payment details.
