Accessible Websites

Accessible design helps people with vision, hearing, mobility, and other access needs understand and use the website.

A business website should not turn customers away because they use a screen reader, navigate with a keyboard, need captions, or find low-contrast text difficult to read.

What it does

I design and build with clear structure, keyboard navigation, readable colour contrast, visible focus states, descriptive image text, useful form labels, and sensible heading order.

When a project includes audio or video, captions or transcripts are considered as part of making that information available to people who cannot hear it.

Why it matters for your business

Accessible choices make the website usable by more people. They also tend to produce clearer navigation, more understandable content, larger practical tap targets, and fewer frustrating interactions for everyone.

Accessibility is not a decorative extra added after the desktop design is finished. It affects the content, design, code, and testing from the beginning.

Checked in more than one way

Automated tools can find useful problems with contrast, labels, structure, and code, but a perfect automated score is not proof that every person can use every part of a website.

I combine automated checks with keyboard use, responsive testing, and practical review. A formal WCAG conformance claim requires a defined audit and scope; I do not invent one from a Lighthouse score.

What clients get

Clients get a website built with accessible foundations and checked for common barriers, along with honest reporting about what has been tested and what still depends on future content or third-party services.
